The Problem With Acne Treatments
Blackheads and acne can be one of those problems that sometimes just never seems to clear up on its own. Why it seems to affect some people more than others is something many people have theories about but no definite answers for. What we must realise is that left unchecked, combination oily skin and acne can have a devastating effect on a person's self esteem and can hold them back from becoming involved in social situations.
Acne is recognisable by pimples on sensitive oily skin, blackheads and red marks on the face and cheeks and pock marks which can even lead to deep acne scars.
Some people try all kinds of gels and creams to remove skin oil but these do not work because they do not treat the underlying cause of the problem, and the condition returns shortly afterward. Commercially available products can burn sensitive skin and can even create more problems.
Occasionally when an acne sufferer tries an acne treatment which doesn't work they can end up feeling depressed, with lower self esteem and a reduced quality of life. Some deep acne scar sufferers develop clinical depression and will hide themselves away, not wanting to be seen in public.
Part of the reason most acne treatments don't work is that the manufacturers of the products only want to treat the symptoms but not cure the condition. They want to continue selling their products, so they focus on relieving some of the symptoms but not the underlying cause, knowing that the acne sufferer will be back in a few weeks with more money for them.
The truth is that expensive creams and gels will not work in the long run and the chronic acne sufferer needs to try a different approach to stop their acne problem before it leaves them scarred both physically and psychologically.
If you have ever felt despair due to this condition and have asked yourself "How will I ever get rid of this acne?" then you are not alone. Many others have been there as well, and many have found effective treatment by trying alternative treatments.
Quite often changing your diet can bring good results. If you have bad acne then steer away from foods high in fat and dairy products. The main thing is to continue searching and trying natural methods, and realise that gels and creams will not work but with perseverance, it is possible to find something that works.
If you are not an acne sufferer yourself but know someone who is, then try to be as supportive as possible. You may notice them shying away from social gatherings, so be understanding and try to come up with other things to do. They still want to have fun.
Don't eat junk food around them and instead pick up some fresh fruit or sandwiches.
It's quite likely they are aware of their acne problem so don't ever say things to make them feel self conscious about it. If you happen to find a new treatment they haven't tried before, try to let them know about it without hurting their feelings. Acne can be a big deal to some people but knowing they have your support can make all the difference.
