How To Slow The Pace Of Getting Older
Have you ever woken up one early morning to find yourself looking in the mirror and thinking how your face looks like it has aged, with wrinkles becoming more visible? With the busy lives that we lead these days, it's hard maintain with our own routines at times. Here are some ideas that may help to decrease the presence of facial lines.
But to begin with what are these?
Wrinkles are folds, creases or lines that can appear on the neck, hands, forehead and face. They can be deep depressions in the skin that are caused when the skin has lost it is firmness. The skin consists of 3 layers:
The EPIDERMIS, the external layer that all of us can look at. This layer acts as a barrier to the elements of the outside environment.
The DERMIS, which contains the structural elements of the skin is the middle layer. This is the connective tissue.
The SUBCUTANEOUS, most inner layer contains fat cells. They help make the skin look plump or full.
Collagen, a protein in the dermis layer, is what helps prevent facial lines. Fibres called elastin have an elastic quality which also help. Eventually the collagen and fibres deteriorate that makes the pores and skin become thinner. When this occurs insufficient moisture can get through the epidermis. As we humans grow older, natural oils in our skin become not as much and the number of sweat glands drop and this can lead to our pores and skin drying out.
Some methods that we can lower this effect are-
1/ Protect our skin from the sun. Wear sun block with a SPF of 30 or greater. Hats, long sleeve shirt and pants to cover the skin. Keep in mind that the UV is often quite strong on cloudy days, so put on something to cover your skin..
2/ Keeping your skin hydrated is a must. Drink lots of water, at least 6-8 glasses is a good amount to have.
3/ Moisturise each morning with a good moisturiser or sunscreen. Doesn't need to be the costliest, something that you're comfortable with, perhaps not too oily.
4/ Do not smoke. Smoking will draw out all the moisture from the pores and skin and dehydration will occur quicker. This will then make the pores and skin look a lot older and make appears seem older earlier than it should.
5/ Facial massages will promote the muscles and tone them up quicker.
6/ Diet program is essential to keeping wrinkles at bay. Consume lots of greens and reduce the consumption of fats. Consume high antioxidant foods, they will help build up collagen and rebuild elasticity in the skin.
7/ Good skin care: Exfoliating and cleansing to clear scalp. Hydration of your skin with moisturiser as shown in step 3.
8/ Drinking Green Tea is also really helpful as it consists of many antioxidants, so can be quite helpful.
9/ One other good skincare idea that I have heard of is using vitamin E and honey. Mix a capsule of vitamin E with some honey and rub it onto the face, leave for around 10 to 15 minutes and wash off with warm soapy water. Honey allows to moisten and vitamin E is good for repairing skin injury.
10/ Get a good amount of rest. You want this to help your pores and skin rejuvenate.
